Are you storing your skincare products in the wrong place?

Did you know that the way you store your skincare products is important to get the most out of your products?

When skincare is stored in high temperatures and in the light or bathroom on the vanity, it can degrade quickly. Both light from the sun and artificial light can affect skincare, reducing the strength of the functional ingredients. Also, steam can creep in from showers if your lid is not on properly.

So, at Malano, we have taken the guess work out of achieving maximum performance for your skincare. We use super premium raw ingredients to ensure that you can achieve maximum results, however, you severely reduce the product quality if you store your products poorly.

If you follow these basic steps, you will maintain the integrity of the products.

1. Always store your products in the fridge or a dark, cool cupboard, never over 21C, optimum for Malano is 4-15C.

2. When you use your products, avoid using fingers, unless your hands are properly cleaned. We always supply cosmetic scoops.

3. Ensure that you screw the lids on firmly, but not overtight.

4. If you damage the lid, reach out to us and ask for a new one to be sent.

Always remember that chemical reactions constantly take place in skincare, so you can achieve the best results by following our simple steps.

It’s that time of year again where we find the harsh winter air drying out our lips, due to the cold air burning the thin sensitive skin, making them tight and cracked. But why does this happen? It’s all due to our lips not having oil glands.

Our Lip Balm contains a blend of nutritive oils and extracts which work to sooth and deeply nourish, restoring your distressed lips, making them healthy and supple.

There are also some things that you can do internally to help keep your lips moist, these are drinking plenty of water and/or taking evening primrose oil which contains GLA, (gamma linolenic acid which is found in plant seed oils like rosehip, black currant and borage) helping keep your lips moist.

You can also gently exfoliate your lips using a soft bristle toothbrush, gently rubbing a face washer over your lips in a circular motion or using a good quality exfoliator, then applying a good quality balm like our soothing lip balm.

Here at Malano, we love essential oils as much as you do. They have a rich history dating all the way back to the early Egyptians and for that reason, we use them extensively in many products. However, one thing that you may not know, essential oils are considered a medicine and listed as a chemical by the Therapeutic Goods Administration. So, there are some important pointers that that we thought we’d share with you on their use and safety. 1. Always dilute your essential oils in a high-quality carrier oil, such as; Jojoba, Sweet Almond or Fractionated Coconut Oil. Never use essential oils neat. A rough guide is about 40 drops per 100ml of carrier oil, which is around 2%. 2. Always check the labels and understand the dilution rates, for example you should only use 2-10%. Be aware that Bergamot contains Bergaptene which makes the skin photo-sensitive. 3. Check whether the oil you are using is safe for pets and babies. 4. Cats and dogs are able to be around some oils, sometimes that can vary, not all oils are safe for all animal species. 5. Make sure if you are pregnant that you check for cautions, most essential oils are not suitable for pregnancy and infants. 6. Always learn from reputable books and sites about essential oil safety. 7. We don’t recommend many essential oils for infants under 2. 8. Perhaps one of the most important tips, never ingest essential oils unless you have food grade ones and you are experienced or trained in their use. The best advice is to seek a consult with a naturopath or aromatherapist and they can safely guide you through proper dosages and use. 9.
